Grand Opening Ceremony for the Aspens at South Lake Tahoe

South Lake Tahoe, CA (March 27, 2014) - "This project is an excellent example of a Public/Private Partnership," said Mayor Pro Tem Brooke Laine at today's grand opening ceremony of the Aspens at South Lake Tahoe.

"It has been wonderful working with the developer team.  Shellan Rodriguez, the project manager for Pacific West, has worked through a lot of issues and fit many moving pieces together to make the project happen.  The City would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Keith Basham with Pacific West Builders.  Keith is an extremely professional contractor that was very responsive to any issues that arose on site and ensured quality construction of the project," said Laine.

Approximately 30 people attended today's grand opening ceremony of the Aspens.  Over 500 inquiries have been received by the leasing office and 90% of the units are currently occupied by local residents earning $24-35k annually.

"This is a beautiful project that I initially began working on in 2007 that took civic leadership to stay by our side and make this project happen," said Andrea Clark, Vice President of Special Projects for Pacific West Communities.

El Dorado County Health and Human Services reports that of the six (6) units devoted to the Mental Health Services Act, which is for community members who have either been homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless, five units have been occupied and a waiting list has been made for future request.

The Aspens at South Lake Tahoe is located at 3521 Pioneer Trail at Ski Run Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe.  The smoke-free community offers one, two and three-bedroom, energy efficient affordable living units for income-qualified renters.  Apartments range in size from 561 square feet for a one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit to 1,181 square feet for the largest 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit.  Apartment homes come equipped with washer/dryer hook-ups, dishwasher, refrigerator, gas stove, garbage disposal, and central heating and air.
